We're opening city by city rather than everywhere at once, so there are actually contractors available when you search. Where we go first depends on where demand is strongest, which means joining the waitlist genuinely helps move your area up the list.

Joining the waitlist is free, and so is searching for contractors. Every contractor sets their own rate for each service they offer — hourly or flat — and you see that price on their card before you book anything. No quotes to chase, no site visit required to find out the number. Full pricing for contractors will be published before launch.

Contractors list the licenses they hold and whether they carry insurance, and both appear on their profile alongside ratings from jobs they've completed through the platform. A background check is required before a contractor takes paid work. We'd still encourage you to read the reviews and use the same judgment you would hiring any independent tradesperson.

When you book a contractor, we place a hold on your card for their rate — an authorization, not a charge. Nothing is actually taken until the contractor accepts the job. If they decline, or don't respond, the hold is released. On jobs you post for bids instead, funds are processed through Stripe and held by DirtyJobs until you confirm the work is complete.

Nothing is released while a job is unresolved, because payment only moves when you confirm completion. If you and the contractor can't sort it out directly, every job is covered by a three-tier dispute resolution process that ends in binding arbitration.

No. You can search contractors and request a booking as a guest — just your name, email, and phone number so the contractor can reach you. Creating an account is worth it if you want your job history in one place, but it is never required to hire someone.

Contractors are required to hold whatever licenses and insurance the law demands for the work they offer, and the licenses on file appear on their profile. Insurance status is self-reported, so treat it as a starting point rather than a verified guarantee — if it matters for your job, ask to see the certificate before work begins.

Anything from a quick cleanup to a full renovation. That covers everyday work like yard cleanup, junk removal, hauling, and dog walking, as well as skilled trades including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, roofing, and drywall.

You set your own price for each skill you offer and publish the hours you're available. Customers searching your area see your rate up front and can request one of your open slots — you accept or decline every request, so nothing lands on your calendar without your say-so. Funds transfer to your account through Stripe once the customer confirms the job is complete, and your 1099-NEC is issued automatically at year end.

No. We don't sell personal information. The only outside parties who touch your data are the services that run the platform — payments, authentication, and email — and they're contractually barred from using it for their own purposes. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
